Golanthara Police arrest man in dowry death case

Golanthara Police have arrested 36-year-old Manas Ranjan Dakhinakabat in connection with the death of his wife, Ambrita Priyadashini Rauta. The victim reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained during a domestic assault on September 23, 2026.

A complaint filed by the victim's father alleges that the couple was subjected to ongoing physical and mental harassment due to demands for additional dowry. The complainant stated that various household items, gold, silver, and cash were provided during the marriage in 2020, but further demands led to the abuse.

Following the assault, the victim was treated at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur, where she passed away on September 30. Police have registered a case involving charges of cruelty, dowry death, culpable homicide, and violations of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
