Golar LNG to acquire Grace Dahlia for fourth FLNG conversion

Golar LNG has agreed to purchase the 2013-built LNG carrier Grace Dahlia from NYK Line to serve as its fourth floating LNG (FLNG) production unit. The vessel, which has a storage capacity of approximately 177,427 cubic metres, is scheduled for conversion at the CIMC Raffles shipyard in Yantai, China.

The new unit is expected to be redelivered in 2029 and will feature an annual liquefaction capacity of 3.5 million tonnes, matching the design of Golar’s FLNG Esperanza. However, the Grace Dahlia unit will offer roughly 20 per cent more storage capacity than Esperanza, providing greater offloading flexibility for future customers.

The conversion project has an estimated budget of approximately US$2.45 billion. Black & Veatch will provide licensed liquefaction technology, detailed engineering, and process design for the unit. Golar LNG is currently engaged in advanced commercial discussions regarding long-term charters for the vessel.
