Golborne Station project begins on West Coast Main Line

Enabling works have commenced on the £36 million Golborne Station project on the West Coast Main Line. Scheduled to open in spring 2028, the facility will be the first new railway station in Greater Manchester in over two decades.

The new station is expected to significantly reduce commute times to Manchester by up to 30 minutes. This infrastructure development is projected to impact local property markets in the WA3 postcode area, including Golborne and Lowton. Research suggests that properties located within 500 metres of a new rail station may see an average price increase of approximately 4.9%.
