Gold and mineral production rises in Senegal and Burkina Faso

Mining production in Senegal and Burkina Faso showed significant growth in June 2026, driven largely by the gold sector.

In Senegal, gold production value rose by 10.1% in June to 62.5 billion FCFA, contributing to a 19.7% increase in cumulative gold production for the first half of the year compared to 2025. Additionally, iodized salt production saw a monthly increase of 60.6%, reaching 502.9 million FCFA. While attapulgite production declined by 36.5% in June, its year-on-year growth remains positive at 15.1%.

In Burkina Faso, industrial gold production increased by 39.6% year-on-year in June, with mines producing 4.477 tonnes compared to 3.206 tonnes in the previous year. Cumulative industrial production reached 26.752 tonnes by the end of June, representing a 10.3% increase over the same period in 2025. This performance means the country has achieved 50.5% of its revised annual production target of 52.938 tonnes.
