Gold and silver prices fluctuate amid US Dollar strength

Gold and silver prices in the Indian domestic market have experienced significant volatility between September 23 and September 24, 2026. On September 24, gold prices saw a decline, with 24-carat gold dropping to approximately ₹1,52,090 per 10 grams. Silver also faced downward pressure, with rates falling to around ₹2,36,080 per kilogram.

Market analysts attribute the fluctuations in gold prices to a strengthening US Dollar and hawkish monetary policy signals from Federal Reserve officials, which increase the attractiveness of interest-bearing assets over non-yielding gold.

While gold faced downward trends in recent sessions, silver has shown instances of strength driven by industrial demand, particularly in the green energy, solar, and electric vehicle sectors. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold and silver rates have fluctuated closely with international COMEX trends, influenced by global economic indicators and US Treasury yields.
