Gold and silver prices fluctuate in Indian markets

Gold and silver prices in India experienced volatility and downward trends on September 21, 2026. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures saw declines, with some reports noting a drop of approximately 881 rupees. Silver also faced downward pressure, with some contracts falling by nearly 1,599 rupees.

In major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, 24-carat gold prices were observed around 1,55,830 to 1,55,980 rupees per 10 grams. Silver prices hovered near 2,50,000 to 2,55,000 rupees per kilogram.

Market analysts attribute the fluctuations to several global factors, including a strengthening US Dollar Index and rising US Treasury yields, which typically create an inverse relationship with non-yielding assets like gold. Additionally, industrial demand for silver in green energy and electronics continues to influence its market behavior, even as precious metal prices face pressure from macroeconomic indicators and geopolitical tensions.
