Gold and silver prices rise in Chennai

Gold and silver prices in Chennai have seen a significant increase on September 19, 2026. The price of 22-karat gold has risen by ₹130 per gram, bringing the price to ₹14,285 per gram, or ₹1,14,280 per pawn.

For 24-karat gold, the price increased by ₹142 per gram to reach ₹15,584. Meanwhile, 18-karat gold rose by ₹130 per gram to ₹12,055. Silver prices also trended upward, increasing by ₹5 per gram to ₹260, with a per-kilogram increase of ₹5,000, reaching ₹2,60,000.

Market analysts attribute these fluctuations to various international and domestic factors, including the geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran, crude oil prices, the value of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar, and global stock market performance. Additionally, the central government's decision in May to increase gold import duties from 6% to 15% has contributed to market volatility.
