Gold and silver prices rise on MCX
Gold and silver prices experienced an upward trend on Friday, September 18, 2026, with significant gains observed on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Gold futures for the October 5 expiry rose to approximately 1,53,940 rupees per 10 grams, marking an increase of about 0.63 percent.
Silver saw even stronger gains, with December 2026 futures reaching 2,41,100 rupees per kilogram, a rise of over 1 percent. In major Indian cities, retail prices for 999 purity gold were reported around 1.51 lakh rupees per 10 grams, while 999 purity silver reached approximately 2.36 lakh rupees per kilogram.
Market experts attribute these movements to international trends and domestic factors. On COMEX, gold rose to 4,406 dollars per ounce and silver strengthened to 66 dollars per ounce. The recent Federal Reserve decision regarding interest rates, alongside fluctuations in the US dollar and equity market volatility, continues to influence bullion demand.
