Gold and silver prices surge in August 2026
Gold and silver prices have experienced a significant upward trend in mid-August 2026. As of August 18, 24-carat gold prices reached approximately ₹1,55,115 per 10 grams, following a rise from the previous day's rate of ₹1,54,506. Silver prices also saw a substantial increase, climbing to ₹2,37,400 per kilogram.
Data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) indicates that during the first 17 days of August, gold prices rose by ₹11,000 and silver by ₹18,000. Throughout 2026, gold has seen a total increase of roughly ₹21,000 compared to the end of 2025.
Market experts suggest that while prices have retreated from previous all-time highs, there is potential for further growth. Projections indicate gold could reach ₹1,60,000 and silver could hit ₹2,80,000 by the end of the year. Consumers are advised to purchase BIS-hallmarked certified gold and verify prices through official sources.
