Gold chain thefts reported in Ervadi and Mysuru

Two separate incidents of gold chain snatching have been reported in India.

In Ervadi, Tamil Nadu, a woman was targeted while riding a moped near Puliyurkuriichi. An unidentified individual wearing a helmet followed her on a motorcycle and snatched a 14-sovereign gold chain. The victim was unable to secure help as the area was sparsely populated at the time. Ervadi police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspect.

In Mysuru, Karnataka, police arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Rajath, for allegedly robbing his paternal aunt. The accused reportedly entered the victim's home wearing a full-face helmet and used chili powder to blind her before snatching a 60-gram gold mangalya chain. The chain snapped during the struggle, and the suspect fled with 30 grams. Authorities arrested the suspect within six hours, and he reportedly confessed to the crime, stating he needed money to recover losses from online trading.
