Gold Coast teenagers charged after jet skis capsize boat
Two teenagers are facing charges following a marine incident on the Nerang River near Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. Video footage shows two jet skis driving dangerously close to a small boat, or tinny, spraying it with water and causing it to capsize.
Queensland Police confirmed that the occupants of the capsized vessel were two boys, aged 10 and 14, who were uninjured in the incident. The operators of the jet skis, aged 15 and 16, have been identified and intercepted. Both are facing charges of assault and dangerous operation of a vessel. Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate described the incident as “unfathomable” during a press conference.
