Gold discovery in France and fish mortality in Vietnam

In France, a man discovered approximately 100kg of gold hidden within an abandoned house he inherited in Évreux, Normandy. The cache included roughly 5,000 gold coins, two 12kg bars, and 37 one-kilogram bars. Documents found on-site suggest the gold was legally purchased during the 1950s and 1960s. While the gold was sold for approximately 3.5 million euros, the heir may face significant inheritance taxes of up to 45%, as well as potential liabilities for any unpaid taxes owed by the deceased.

In Vietnam, large-scale mortality of golden pomfret has been reported in Van Phong Bay, Khanh Hoa province. Local farmers are facing heavy losses, with some reporting mortality rates as high as 50%. Affected areas include Dai Lanh commune, where fish have exhibited lethargy and skin lesions. Authorities are currently conducting tests and collecting epidemiological samples to determine the cause of the mass die-off.
