Gold exploration activity increases in Western Australia
Mining companies in Western Australia are intensifying gold exploration efforts through new field campaigns.
Western Yilgarn (ASX:WYX) has initiated soil and rock-chip sampling at its Gascoyne gold project within the Glenburgh Gold District. The program targets seven priority locations, identified through airborne magnetic, radiometric, and gravity datasets, to determine which warrant drilling. Initial focus will be placed on targets GB_02, GB_04, GB_06, and GB_07, particularly GB_04, which spans approximately 4km along an interpreted shear zone.
Separately, Dynamic Metals has completed a 286-sample soil program at its Widgiemooltha gold project, specifically targeting a historic 900-metre-long gold anomaly at the Princess Sally prospect. The campaign utilized high-resolution sampling to test an area that includes the historic Princess Sally gold mine. The company noted that historical drilling records in the area contain holes that were never assayed for gold, presenting potential for new discoveries.
