Gold mining companies advance major North American projects
Lode Gold Resources is focusing its operations on the Fremont Project in California’s Mother Lode gold belt. Following the spin-off of its Canadian projects, the company aims to exploit a 3.3 million ounce gold resource. Historically, only 8% of the veins at the Fremont mine were mined before operations ceased in 1942, leaving approximately 89% of the resource in the ground. The company has secured a three-year drilling permit and has commenced a drilling program of up to 4,500 meters.
Separately, Osisko Gold Group Inc. has announced a formal decision to proceed with the construction of its Cariboo Gold Project in central British Columbia, Canada. The company expects the first gold pour in Q1 2029, with commercial production following in the second half of 2029. The project is supported by a US$30 million strategic private placement from a Trafigura affiliate and a potential prepayment facility of up to US$120 million. As of July 31, 2026, project completion is estimated at 22%.
