Gold prices drop in Vietnam as global rates fall below $4,000
Gold prices in Vietnam experienced a significant decline on October 25, 2026, following a downward trend in the global market. Domestic SJC gold bars were listed at 138.7 million VND/tael for buying and 141.7 million VND/tael for selling, reflecting a decrease of approximately 300,000 VND/tael at several major brands including PNJ, Bao Tin Minh Chau, and Phu Quy.
On the international market, spot gold fell below the 4,000 USD/ounce threshold, trading around 3,994–3,997 USD/ounce. This decline is attributed to rising oil prices driven by Middle East tensions, inflation concerns, and expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve may maintain tight monetary policies. A sell-off in technology stocks also contributed to the downward pressure on precious metals.
Investors face notable losses due to the volatility; those who purchased SJC gold rings earlier in the week could see losses of up to 8.1 million VND/tael when accounting for the spread between buying and selling prices. While some Wall Street analysts predict further declines, others suggest a potential rebound if market conditions stabilize.
