Gold Prices Drop in Egypt and Yemen as US Dollar Hits Record

In Egypt, gold prices steadied on Thursday, June 18, 2026, with 21‑carat gold trading around 6,125 EGP (sell) and 6,075 EGP (buy). The 24‑carat price was about 7,000 EGP, and the spot ounce was quoted near $4,226.

In Yemen, gold prices fell sharply on Friday, June 19, 2026. In Aden, the 21‑carat gram dropped to 197,000 YER (sell) and the gold pound to 1.517 million YER (sell), while in Sana’a the gram fell to 66,500 YER (sell) and the pound to 518,000 YER (sell). The declines were driven by a surge in the US dollar, which reached a yearly high and pushed global gold futures down about 1.7% to $4,173 per ounce and spot prices down 1.35% to $4,153 per ounce.
