Gold markets face volatility amid inflation and geopolitical tensions

Global gold markets are experiencing significant volatility as prices hover around the $4,000 to $4,200 per ounce range. Analysts note that while gold has established a strong support base at $4,000, its ability to reach new record highs is being challenged by conflicting economic forces, including US inflation data, Federal Reserve interest rate expectations, and fluctuating US dollar strength.

In Egypt, the gold market has seen fluctuations, with the gold pound rising by at least 200 EGP in recent sessions. Local prices for 21-karat gold have stabilized around 6,260 to 6,280 EGP. Concurrently, the US dollar has reached its highest level in Egypt since April, trading near 53.80 EGP in some banks.

In Turkey, gold prices remain a focal point for investors, with gram and quarter gold prices seeing significant movement. Experts have also issued warnings regarding ‘second-press’ gold—unauthorized imitations that mimic official Mint products but may have lower purity or weight, potentially leading to financial losses for consumers during resale.

Geopolitical tensions, including the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, continue to act as drivers for gold demand as investors seek safe-haven assets. Market participants are closely monitoring upcoming US economic indicators and central bank policies to determine the next major trend.
