Gold Prices Fall in Pakistan and India as US Dollar Gains Strength

In Pakistan, gold bullion continued to slide on Saturday, with the price of one tola falling by Rs 1,000 to Rs 431,236 and the price of 10 grams dropping Rs 730 to Rs 369,715. The decline mirrored a $10‑per‑ounce drop in global gold, which settled at $4,088, and was accompanied by a fall in silver prices.

In India, gold prices slipped 4.63 % over the week, marking the fourth consecutive weekly decline. The 24‑carat 10‑gram price fell to Rs 1,39,878 from Rs 1,46,664, driven by a stronger US dollar and higher US Treasury yields that reduced the appeal of non‑yielding assets. Despite a modest rebound in gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange, the market remains pressured by expectations of further US Federal Reserve tightening.
