Gold prices in Egypt fluctuate amid global market shifts

Gold prices in Egypt have experienced fluctuations and slight increases during late October 2026. On Tuesday, October 20, gold prices rose by approximately 0.30% across major categories, driven by a rise in global ounce prices and a stable exchange rate for the Egyptian Pound against the US Dollar.

Specific market rates reported include 24-karat gold at approximately 7,166 to 7,349 EGP per gram, and the widely traded 21-karat gold ranging between 6,270 and 6,430 EGP. The gold pound, consisting of 8 grams of 21-karat gold, was valued between 50,162 and 51,443 EGP.

Market analysts note that local prices are heavily influenced by the global gold ounce price, the USD/EGP exchange rate, and local supply and demand. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to support gold as a safe-haven asset, though this is balanced against pressures from oil prices and global monetary policy expectations.
