Gold prices in Egypt stabilize after early gains

Gold prices in the Egyptian local market showed stability during mid-day trading on Thursday, September 17, 2026, following an initial rise. The 21-karat gold price, which is the most widely traded in Egypt, increased by approximately 30 EGP before stabilizing at 6,330 EGP per gram.

Other local price points included 24-karat gold at 7,234 EGP per gram and 18-karat gold at 5,425 EGP per gram. The gold pound was priced at 50,640 EGP. Globally, spot gold prices reached approximately 4,350 USD per ounce.

Market fluctuations in Egypt are driven by global gold prices, the USD exchange rate, and local supply and demand. Analysts note that gold continues to serve as a safe-haven asset amidst global economic and geopolitical developments, with central bank interest rate decisions acting as a primary driver for ounce prices on international exchanges.
