Vietnam commodity markets: Fuel, gold, and coffee prices fluctuate
Vietnam's commodity markets experienced significant volatility on October 22-23, 2026. Retail gasoline prices saw a notable decrease, with E10 RON 95 falling by over 1,800 VND/liter and E5 RON 92 dropping by 1,610 VND/liter. Conversely, diesel prices rose by 444 VND/liter. This shift follows a period of rising fuel costs and is influenced by global energy trends, including rising Brent crude prices due to Middle East tensions.
In the precious metals market, global gold prices plummeted toward the 4,000 USD/ounce mark, driven by rising energy costs fueling inflation fears and expectations of sustained high interest rates from the US Federal Reserve. Domestic gold prices in Vietnam showed mixed results; while SJC gold miếng remained relatively stable, some brands reported decreases in ring gold prices.
Agricultural commodities also saw movement. Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands continued a downward trend, dropping below 92,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the rubber market saw global prices decline on the TOCOM and SHFE exchanges, though domestic prices at major enterprises remained steady. Additionally, domestic pork prices experienced a widespread decline across northern, central, and southern provinces.
