Gold prices reach $4,202 as ETF inflows hit $18 billion
Gold prices reached $4,202.30 at the COMEX close, maintaining a position above the $4,000 psychological threshold despite high bond yields and fluctuating interest rate expectations. While spot gold saw some recent corrections due to a stronger dollar, technical rebounds have occurred in futures markets.
Investors are closely monitoring Federal Reserve policy and geopolitical developments in the Middle East. Federal Reserve officials, including Governor Lisa Cook and Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari, have noted that inflation remains a persistent concern.
In the ETF sector, gold saw significant inflows, with $18 billion entering gold ETFs in August, marking one of the strongest months on record. Total gold ETF holdings reached 4,189 tonnes, with assets under management totaling $615 billion. Simultaneously, Bitcoin ETFs in the United States attracted approximately $3.52 billion in August, representing a strong monthly performance for the cryptocurrency asset.
