Gold trader Pintu Das rescued after allegedly fleeing with mortgaged gold

Police have rescued gold trader Pintu Das and three family members from Patiya in Chattogram after they allegedly went into hiding. Das, the owner of SK Shilpalay in Chandpur, was reported missing following allegations that he failed to return mortgaged gold and money to various customers.

A joint operation by the Chandpur District Detective Branch and Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station located the group using information technology. The rescue occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Friday after a two-day search.

Several complaints have been filed against Das regarding the unpaid gold mortgages. Before disappearing, Das had been operating a jewellery shop at Akhand Market on Cumilla Road and living in a rented flat in Chandpur town.
