GoldCoast Resource Corp granted licenses for Ghana offshore exploration

GoldCoast Resource Corp has been granted 10 contiguous Offshore Reconnaissance Licenses in Ghana, covering approximately 10,000 square kilometers along the western offshore continental shelf. The license area spans roughly 300 kilometers of coastline, from Half Assini to Winneba, representing about 53% of the nation’s total offshore coastline.

These exclusive licenses allow the company to conduct various geophysical and marine activities, including airborne and marine surveys, bathymetric mapping, seismic surveys, magnetometry, coring, and sediment sampling. The objective is to identify potential marine mineral deposits in underwater basins that collect alluvial runoff from inland river systems.

Separately, concerns have been raised regarding national security in Ghana as the country faces rising threats from illicit economies. Observers have warned that the expansion of cocaine trafficking, alongside the existing challenges of illegal mining (galamsey), could overwhelm state institutions, judicial capacity, and border security if not addressed through proactive prevention and intelligence.
