Golden Boy vs Zuffa Boxing dispute threatens Ryan Garcia‑Conor Benn bout

A fight between WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia and mandatory challenger Conor Benn, tentatively slated for September 12, is facing legal obstacles. Golden Boy Promotions sent a cease‑and‑desist letter to Zuffa Boxing, accusing the promoter of attempting to organise the bout without Golden Boy’s consent, which is required under its contract with streaming platform DAZN.

Oscar De La Hoya expressed displeasure with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing for moving ahead without Golden Boy’s approval, though he said he is willing to cooperate to make the match happen. Zuffa Boxing, represented by Dana White, indicated the fight could be announced for Las Vegas. British analyst Dave Allen predicted Garcia would dominate the encounter, calling the Mexican‑American star a “top‑bracket” fighter.

The disagreement involves major promoters and broadcasters, including Paramount+ and DAZN, and could delay or cancel the high‑profile Garcia‑Benn showdown.
