Golden Boy Promotions signs Rivera Rio and Retamozo

Golden Boy Promotions has announced the signing of two Latin American boxers: Mexican featherweight Gustavo ‘Dorado’ Rivera Rio and undefeated Colombian lightweight Ibran ‘El Asesino’ Retamozo.

Rivera Rio, hailing from Mexico City, holds a professional record of 16-1 with 11 knockouts. A former WBC Youth Silver super-featherweight title winner, he previously competed with the Mexican national team following over 150 amateur bouts. Retamozo, from Barranquilla, Colombia, enters the agreement with an undefeated record of 19-0 and 14 stoppage wins.

Golden Boy Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya stated that both fighters possess the talent and hunger to compete for world championships. Rivera Rio described the signing as a ‘dream come true,’ noting a personal connection between his nickname and the promotion.
