Golden Cross wins Murwillumbah Cup as O’Shea targets Goulburn Cup
In Australian horse racing, the five-year-old gelding Golden Cross secured a dominant victory in the $85,000 Murwillumbah Cup. Ridden by apprentice Archie McColm, Golden Cross won by 2.59 lengths, defeating the $71 outsider Kairos Louie. The win contributed to a successful period for trainer Bryan Dais, who has recorded five winners from his last seven runners.
Separately, trainers John O’Shea and Tom Charlton are preparing the galloper Cross Tasman for the $200,000 Goulburn Cup. The move is part of a strategy to secure eligibility for the $3 million Big Dance at Randwick in November. Cross Tasman, who has four wins from nine starts, will be partnered by jockey Kerrin McEvoy in the event.
