Golden Eagle Luxury Trains explores Central Asian Silk Road routes
Golden Eagle Luxury Trains is offering rail itineraries through Central Asia, following the ancient Silk Road trade routes. A 14-day Republics of the Silk Road journey departs from Almaty, Kazakhstan, and travels to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, visiting Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The travel experience includes cultural highlights such as the traditional nomad games in Kyrgyzstan, which feature sports like Kokburu (horseback polo), horseback archery, and falconry.
Due to visa restrictions, the train can no longer include Turkmenistan, which has declined visas for passengers since 2024. Following shifts in routes due to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the luxury operator plans to relaunch a 22-day Grand Silk Road itinerary in September 2026.
