Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks reshape plans ahead of 2026 NBA season

The Golden State Warriors have slipped from the top of the list of teams likely to sign LeBron James, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The Warriors’ pitch relied on acquiring Anthony Davis from the Washington Wizards, a move the Wizards appear unwilling to make, leaving the Warriors behind the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and other suitors.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks face a rebuilding year after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. With new head coach Taylor Jenkins emphasizing defense, the Bucks have added players such as Tyler Herro, Kevin Porter Jr., Ousmane Dieng and others, and must identify a primary scoring option, improve their defensive identity and solidify team leadership to remain playoff‑eligible.

Both teams are navigating free‑agency moves and roster overhauls as the 2026 NBA season approaches.
