Golden State Warriors face injury and trade developments

The Golden State Warriors are navigating roster adjustments and player health as they prepare for the upcoming NBA season. During a preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, head coach Steve Kerr noted that center Charles Bassey sustained an injury. Kerr emphasized the importance of Bassey and Graham Ike to the team’s depth, describing Bassey as a “talented player” and a “great young guy” who will make an impact despite the setback.

In trade news, the Warriors may have a second opportunity to acquire guard Walter Clayton Jr. Although Golden State was unable to pursue the former first-round pick during the 2025 NBA draft due to a lack of first-round assets, reports suggest the Memphis Grizzlies are exploring trade options for him. The Warriors, who previously traded a pick to acquire Jimmy Butler, remain among the teams that have historically valued Clayton’s talent.

Separately, a viral moment occurred during a preseason game in Las Vegas when Steve Kerr was seen having a bewildered stare-down with a spectator, Steve Gillis, who is widely recognized as Kerr’s doppelgänger.
