Golden State Warriors prepare for transitional NBA season

The Golden State Warriors are entering a transitional phase as they prepare for the upcoming NBA season. Head coach Steve Kerr has announced several strategic shifts, including the hiring of Frank Vogel to lead the defense. Vogel, a former head coach for the Lakers and Suns, joins the staff to bring defensive expertise after Kerr spent two years attempting to recruit him.

Kerr also noted that Draymond Green will be required to adapt his playing style to fit a new team dynamic. This evolution aims to improve offensive fluidity and reduce turnovers, though Kerr cautioned that the transition might be “frustrating at times.”

Regarding roster management, Kerr explained that the team was unable to make major trades this summer because no opportunities met the necessary criteria for assets or salary cap flexibility. Consequently, the Warriors will rely on their existing depth to support Stephen Curry. This comes amid external pressure from analysts like Kendrick Perkins, who argues that the front office must aggressively build a championship-caliber roster to honor Curry’s long-term loyalty to the franchise.
