Global markets show mixed trends in luxury, logistics, and energy sectors
Global markets are experiencing varied performance across the luxury, logistics, and energy sectors. In the luxury segment, Hermès is facing pressure as US luxury spending fell by 6 percent in September, marking a third consecutive monthly decline. Analysts from Goldman Sachs and UBS have issued warnings for Hermès, noting that its period of high growth may be ending due to price-sensitive consumers and increased secondary market availability.
In contrast, LVMH has received a ‘Buy’ rating from Goldman Sachs with a 500 euro price target, suggesting the conglomerate is undervalued and poised for a recovery in leather goods. Meanwhile, the energy infrastructure provider National Grid has raised its fiscal 2027 earnings outlook following strong performance in its ventures and interconnector operations.
Logistics giant DHL Group has also shown strength, raising its profit forecast for 2026 to over 6.5 billion euros due to increased productivity and efficiency. However, other sectors face headwinds; Jefferies lowered its target for Puma SE to 23.50 euros, and Goldman Sachs downgraded Beiersdorf AG to ‘Sell’, citing slow growth and competitive pressure in the European consumer market.
