Goldman Sachs economist predicts AI could eliminate 15 million US jobs

Joseph Briggs, head of Goldman Sachs Global Economic Research, said on the firm’s podcast that artificial‑intelligence could affect roughly 9 % of the United States workforce, equivalent to about 15 million jobs. He compared the scale of the shift to the technology‑driven disruptions of the late‑1990s and early‑2000s, noting that workers whose roles are displaced will need to transition to new employment rather than face permanent unemployment.
