Goldman Sachs in advanced talks to acquire Palmer Square
Goldman Sachs is in advanced negotiations to acquire Palmer Square Capital Management, a credit-focused firm managing approximately $37 billion in assets. The potential deal aims to expand Goldman’s presence in the structured finance sector, specifically within collateralized loan obligations (CLOs).
Founded in 2009 by Chris and Angie Long in Kansas City, Missouri, Palmer Square has specialized in fixed income and credit investments. The acquisition aligns with CEO David Solomon’s strategy to grow the firm’s asset and wealth management division by targeting niche verticals that complement existing credit platforms and generate steady, fee-based revenue.
While discussions are ongoing, no final agreement has been reached, and the negotiations could still fail. The move comes as Goldman Sachs seeks to address gaps in its asset management portfolio through strategic acquisitions.
