Goldman Sachs issues energy, equity, and Turkish inflation warnings
Goldman Sachs has issued several economic warnings and outlooks across different sectors. In the energy market, the bank warns that if liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from the Persian Gulf do not recover before winter, European TTF natural gas prices could rise to 105 euro per megawatt-hour by the end of the year. Similarly, Asian JKM prices are projected to potentially reach 35 dollars per million British thermal units.
Regarding equity markets, Goldman Sachs maintains a neutral three-month outlook due to short-term risks in the bond market and rising capital costs. However, the bank holds an overweight position for a 12-month horizon, citing expected support from corporate earnings and nominal GDP growth.
In Turkey, the bank has revised its 2026 year-end inflation forecast upward to 29 percent. Economists also anticipate a faster depreciation of the Turkish Lira, predicting a mid-20s percentage decline against the US dollar. Furthermore, Turkey's current account deficit is estimated to reach approximately 60 billion dollars, or 3.5 percent of national income, in 2026.
