Kim Soo-hyun's agency announces police referral of individuals to prosecution
Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soo-hyun, has announced that several individuals have been referred to the prosecution following a police investigation into allegations of defamation and the use of fabricated evidence.
The investigation stems from claims made by the family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron and the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute, which alleged that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with her while she was a minor. While Kim acknowledged a relationship occurred after she became an adult, he denied the allegations regarding her minority.
According to the agency, the individuals referred to the prosecution include persons impersonating Kim Sae-ron’s mother and aunt, as well as the late actress's family lawyer, Bu Ji-seok, and YouTuber Kweon Young-chan. The charges include defamation through false statements, distribution of unauthorized recordings, and attempted coercion. The agency specifically alleged that Bu and Kweon used manipulated KakaoTalk messages and AI-generated voice recordings to lead press conferences.
While several accomplices were referred, the police decided not to refer Kim Sae-ron’s father to the prosecution. This follows the previous arrest and indictment of Kim Se-ui, the operator of Garo Sero Institute, in connection with the same matter.
