GoldQuest Dominicana clarifies Cachimbo Este is for exploration only

GoldQuest Dominicana has clarified that its application for the ‘Cachimbo Este’ project is strictly a request for a mining exploration concession and does not constitute authorization for mineral exploitation or the opening of a mine. José Ogando, the company’s Social Management Manager, explained that the notice published by the General Directorate of Mining (DGM) is a standard administrative procedure required by Dominican law to inform third parties of the request.

The requested area covers 107.77 hectares in the Sabaneta municipal district of San Juan de la Maguana, specifically in the El Rodeo and Los Mineros sections. Ogando emphasized that exploration is a preliminary stage used to evaluate technical and economic viability and that the company is complying with all legal frameworks and government directives.

Regarding the El Romero mining deposit, Ogando stated that GoldQuest has respected the Dominican government's decision to halt environmental impact studies in the upper basin of San Juan de la Maguana. He noted that the company has no active operations in Romero and has demobilized equipment from that area, focusing instead on social activities and the exploration request in the Cachimbo zone.
