Golestan Hospital: Two residents arrested after suspicious ICU death
Two first-year neurosurgery residents have been arrested following the suspicious death of a patient in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Golestan Hospital in Ahvaz. The incident has sparked significant controversy, with allegations circulating on social media regarding the intentional injection of potassium and the premature clearing of ICU beds to accommodate other patients.
Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences stated that its own internal investigations identified suspicions of misconduct prior to the news spreading on social media. The university has referred the matter to the Ministry of Health and the prosecutor's office. While initial tests related to the deceased have returned negative results, comprehensive histopathology findings are expected to take several months.
