Golf championships launch in Vietnam

The Tan Son Nhat Golf Course Championship 2026 has officially commenced, marking its 10th anniversary. The tournament features nearly 260 professional and amateur golfers, including international participants. For the first time, the championship is professionally sponsored by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, which will provide official medals to recognize athlete achievements.

The competition follows a stroke-play format based on handicaps across eight different categories, including Pro, Men, Women, and International divisions. Qualifying rounds are scheduled from September 16 to October 7, 2026, with the top 144 golfers advancing to the finals on October 16, 2026.

Additionally, Vietnam is introducing the Vietnam Parent & Child Championship - A. O. Smith Cup 2026. This family-oriented golf tournament, scheduled for January 23 at Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong, aims to connect generations through sport. The event will feature prominent Vietnamese golf champions and rising young talents competing alongside their family members.
