Golf National reopens Albatros course after 12 million euro renovation

Golf National in Guyancourt has reopened its Albatros course following a two-year closure and a 12 million euro renovation. The works were necessitated by the construction of Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express, which required burying the metro line beneath the practice area.

The investment included 7.5 million euros from the Société des grands projets. Renovations involved redesigning several holes, moving three specifically to accommodate the new metro line, and upgrading environmental infrastructure. This included installing 14.5 km of piping and replacing grass species with varieties that are more heat-resistant and require less water.

The site, which previously hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics, is scheduled to host the Open de France on September 24, 2026. The French Golf Federation aims to use the modernized facility to attract major international competitions, including the possibility of hosting the Solheim Cup between 2030 and 2040.
