Golf Saudi announces $4M women's championship for 2027
Golf Saudi has announced a strategic shift in its investment in professional women’s golf. Starting in 2027, the organization will transition from the five-event PIF Global Series to a single, co-sanctioned event known as ‘The Championship.’
Scheduled for July 19–25, 2027, The Championship will be co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET). The tournament will feature a $4 million prize fund. Additionally, Golf Saudi has entered into a multi-year partnership with the LET Order of Merit to provide season-long support for players on the European circuit.
This restructuring follows a decision by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to cease funding the men’s LIV Golf tour after the 2026 season. Golf Saudi CEO Noah Alireza stated that the strategy focuses on developing the sport at both the professional and grassroots levels, aiming to grow the number of registered golfers in the Kingdom from approximately 4,500 to over 30,000 within five years.
