Golf tournaments celebrate anniversaries in Dominican Republic

Multiple golf tournaments held in the Dominican Republic recently marked significant milestones. The Grand Thomas Celebrity Classic celebrated its 20th anniversary with its second stop at the Playa Dorada course in Puerto Plata. The event, organized by PublicMarketing and the Quality Life Foundation, hosted 120 players in a scramble format. Notable attendees included Haime Thomas Frias, the tournament founder, along with local officials such as Santiago Mayor Ulises Rodríguez and Puerto Plata Senator Ginnette Bournigal.

Simultaneously, the Cap Cana Golf Cup took place at the Punta Espada course, also commemorating 20 years of the Jack Nicklaus-designed venue. More than 250 participants competed in the event, which aimed to support the educational initiatives of the Fundación Forjando un Futuro. Marcel Olivares and George Veras secured the overall victory with a score of 64 net strokes.
