Matt McQuillan, former PGA Tour golfer, dies at 45

Canadian professional golfer Matt McQuillan has died at the age of 45. According to an obituary in the Kingston Whig-Standard, McQuillan passed away on August 5, 2026, in his hometown of Kingston, Ontario, surrounded by his family.

McQuillan was a notable figure in Canadian golf, rising to the number one national junior ranking in 1999. He played collegiate golf at Oklahoma State University and the University of Georgia before turning professional in 2003. His career highlights include winning the 2005 TELUS Edmonton Open and earning a PGA Tour card for the 2011 season.

His most significant professional achievement was a tied third-place finish at the 2011 John Deere Classic. Throughout his career, he made 32 PGA Tour starts and remained active in the sport as a teaching professional in Kingston, where he mentored new players.
