Golfe 2 municipality launches environmental and food security initiatives
The Golfe 2 municipality in Togo has launched two distinct initiatives aimed at environmental preservation and local food security.
On October 17, 2026, the Golfe 2 commune, led by Mayor Éric Kpade, partnered with the Lacs 1 commune and several Russian associations to conduct a sanitation operation on Île aux Crabes in Aného. The collaborative effort involved technical teams and community groups working to remove plastic waste and debris to protect the lagoon's ecosystem and its status as an ecotourism site.
Additionally, on October 15, 2026, Golfe 2 officially established a consultation framework for its Territorialized Food System (SAT). This platform brings together local authorities, civil society, and community actors to integrate nutrition and local consumption into municipal development policies. The framework's primary objective is to develop a Territorial Food Plan (PAT) to guide local food strategies and map actors within the food chain.
