Golija mountain hosts the unique Dajićko jezero

Dajićko jezero, a glacial lake located on the Golija mountain in Serbia, is a unique natural site situated at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. The lake is characterized by a lack of traditional shores, as it is surrounded by a specific type of peat bog that yields underfoot. Its size varies depending on precipitation and snowmelt, and it is fed by both atmospheric moisture and a nearby spring.

The ecosystem features rich vegetation and rare insect species, though swimming is prohibited. Historically, the site has been documented by researchers such as Josif Pančić, Nedeljko Kašanin, and Jovan Cvijić.

The area is also steeped in local folklore. One legend refers to the lake as 'svatovsko' (wedding lake), claiming a wedding procession fell into the water after a standard-bearer veered off the path. Another myth describes a monster that once lived in the lake, turning the water red with blood until a priest purified it, leading to the naming of the nearby village, Bele vode.
