Gollala Gudi Temple declared a monument of national importance

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has declared the historic Gollala Gudi Temple in Palampet, Mulugu district, Telangana, a Monument of National Importance. The announcement follows a notification issued by the Ministry of Culture on August 31, 2026, under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.

Dating back to the Kakatiya era, the temple is a Trikutalaya structure, meaning it features a pillared hall surrounded by three sanctums. The central sanctum houses a Shiva lingam. The site is noted for its architectural heritage, including intricate carvings of hamsas, jali latticework, and sculptures of deities such as Vishnu, Lakshmi, Ganesha, and Mahishasuramardini.

The temple is located near the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Kakatiya Rudreshwara (Ramappa) Temple. The ASI intends to undertake conservation efforts at the site, including repairs to the roof.
