Gombe fire destroys N80 million worth of residential property
A fire destroyed two residential flats in the Yalenguruza Quarters of Gombe State, causing an estimated N80 million in property damage. The incident occurred near MacConnels Hotel on a Friday afternoon.
The Federal Fire Service received an emergency alert at 3:03 pm and dispatched a multipurpose water tender from the ATM Fire Station. Firefighters arrived at the scene by 3:15 pm to find flames affecting multiple rooms across two separate structures. Using a medium jet, emergency crews successfully extinguished the blaze.
No casualties were reported in the incident. The rapid response of the fire service, supported by the Gombe State Fire Service and the Nigeria Police Force Gona Division, prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent properties, saving an estimated N150 million worth of additional assets. Following the operation, crews inspected the site to ensure no remaining hazards existed before returning to the station at approximately 5:38 pm.
