Gombe PDP to hold fresh governorship primary following court ruling

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has scheduled a fresh governorship primary for Tuesday, September 29, 2026. This follows a Federal High Court judgment that nullified the previous May 26 primary which had produced Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, as the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.

Twenty-four PDP State House of Assembly candidates, led by Hon. Sadeeq Gidado, have called on party members to participate in the repeat election to demonstrate commitment to internal democracy and party unity. The PDP national leadership has formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the decision to conduct the new primary. Members are required to present valid PDP membership cards and appropriate identification for accreditation starting at 8 a.m.
