Gombe State approves over N15bn for township roads and infrastructure

The Gombe State Executive Council, led by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved several high-value infrastructure and development projects. Key among these are over N15 billion allocated for the construction of township roads in Billiri and Kaltungo Local Government Areas. These road projects, originally awarded in 2022, were re-approved to reflect current market realities following previous delays related to compensation issues.

In urban development, the council approved over N1.4 billion for the installation of solar-powered street lights. This includes N400.467 million for 198 lights along the corridor from the Hajj Camp to the Brigadier Zakari Maimalari International Airport, and N1.087 billion for lighting along the Ashaka Junction–Federal College of Education axis.

To improve aviation infrastructure, the state allocated N839.471 million for the renovation and furnishing of facilities at the Brigadier Zakari Maimalari International Airport, including the restoration of the airport's fire service truck. Additionally, N414.345 million was approved to repair washouts at the airport caused by recent heavy rainfall.

Other approvals include N891.175 million for the Mararaban Kuri-Kuri Town Road and N998.004 million for the procurement of 22,000 mattresses and beddings for boarding schools.
