Nigerian state governors implement administrative reforms

Several Nigerian state governors have implemented administrative changes to strengthen governance and public service delivery.

In Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani approved the appointment of three new commissioners, 45 aides, and 40 board members. Key appointments include Ben Kure as Commissioner for Sports Development and Amina Akilu Dalhat as Commissioner for Special Duties I. These moves aim to accelerate the administration’s development agenda and institutional reforms.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya swore in 19 new permanent secretaries, bringing the total appointed by his administration to 55. The governor noted that these appointments are intended to address manpower gaps and build a professional civil service. He also announced plans for a massive recruitment exercise following the establishment of a biometric manpower database to tackle absenteeism and ghost workers.

In Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa appointed a new Special Adviser, as well as various chairmen and members for state boards and agencies. These include leadership changes for the Universal Basic Education Board, the Local Government Service Commission, and several welfare boards, intended to ensure effective coordination of government policies.

Additionally, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal distributed new official vehicles to various higher institutions and public education agencies, including Federal University Gusau and Zamfara State University, to improve administrative efficiency and supervision.
